Weather: Snow, cold could precede sunny Mother's Day
Mother Nature is giving the Lower Hudson Valley the cold shoulder today and Saturday before bouncing back in time for Mother's Day.
幸运飞艇4码选号技巧An unseasonable drop in temperature is expected to last today through Tuesday, and forecasters are anticipating some new record-low temperatures to be set in some areas within the next several days.
Expect rain for the first half of tonight that could turn into snow early Saturday morning. The snow isn't expected to accumulate, or amount to anything that would cause major problems on roads, AccuWeather Meteorologist Tom Kines said.
The record low in White Plains for this time of year is 33 degrees, set in 1977, but will be challenged Friday and Saturday evening as temperatures are expected to drop down near freezing, Kines said.
Saturday will be blustery and cold, with pockets of sunshine and rain showers dispersed throughout the day, Kines said. Temperatures will range in the mid- to high 40s, but with the amount of wind expected it will feel much colder, as if it were in the 20s or 30s.
While it will still be cold for this time of the year, Sunday will be the best day of the weekend, with temperatures nearing 60. Forecasters expect Mother's Day to be partly sunny, but also windy.
"This is much more typical of a winter weather pattern than a May pattern," Kines said. "Typically we don't get these really cold outbreaks during the month of May."
Even early next week, temperatures will still be on the low end. Monday night it will drop back down into the 30s once again.
